Working Assumptions
Working Assumptions offers six project grants annually to support photography and photo-based art that spurs dialogue around caregiving, family, and belonging. Projects may range from photography series and books to public art, therapeutic programs, or journalism. Grants are for $10,000 each over an eight-month period, providing unrestricted funding. Projects must prioritize still photography as the central medium. Preference is given to projects based on first-person narration, long-term relationships with subjects, and those initiated before the application deadline.

Applicants must be at least 18 years old and U.S. citizens or U.S. tax residents authorized to work in the U.S. Must have a U.S. tax ID/SSN and a U.S. bank account. Cannot have been an employee or prior grant recipient of Working Assumptions within the last two years. Projects must have been initiated prior to the application deadline.
