Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies (FCCS), UBC Okanagan
The FCCS Woodhaven Artist in Residence Program provides a paid residency opportunity for visiting artists including writers, visual artists, digital media artists, and performance artists at the Woodhaven Eco Culture Centre. The program supports site-specific practices that engage with nature, sustainability, and climate change. Residents are expected to dedicate time to their practice and lead one public outreach event, such as a workshop or talk.
Successful applicants receive a fee of $5,000 for a 4-week stay (prorated for shorter stays), which covers travel, per diem, incidentals, and materials. Accommodation in a two-bedroom home and access to a dedicated studio space are provided.
The residency is open to Canadian and international artists engaged in visual arts, creative writing, digital arts, performance, and community-based practices. Current UBC students are ineligible. Applicants must be independent and capable of navigating a remote setting. Preference is given to emerging and early-career artists.
Applicants must submit a single PDF containing a cover letter, CV, contact information for two referees, and art/writing samples via email to fccs.ubco@ubc.ca by the deadline.
