Last Ship
Last Ship is now in Khajuraho, the UNESCO World Heritage site in Madhya Pradesh, and Kalinjar, Uttar Pradesh, India. In the region between Khajuraho and Kalinjar lies the heart of ancient India, in its most rural and undeveloped sites, with temples and archaeological sites that go back from the famous 1,000 year old temples to prehistoric cave shelters. Because of the lack of development so far these sites still evoke the feeling of what ancient India must have been like. On perfectly peaceful winter days in Khajuraho, and quiet starry nights in Kalinjar, it still feels like it must have for thousands of years. These days and nights are getting rarer, as development is fast destroying the peace and heritage. Last Ship’s Artist in Residence program provides safe haven in the chaos, and an opportunity for artists from around the world to experience this ancient region, its history, and its mystic and spiritual traditions while they are still alive in this small pocket of time, before they are lost forever.
