About the Open Call

In the Field facilitates transregional networking and transfer of knowledge in the context of an international theatre festival, bringing together participants from a 300 kilometre radius around Vienna. The programme includes visiting performances, rehearsals, and artistic-discursive formats, as well as meeting artists and experts. Participants engage in workshops designed to share experiences and skills. The 2026 edition is mentored by choreographer and activist Ulduz Ahmadzadeh and focuses on practices at the intersection of art, activism, and participation.

What is Offered

Free participation, tickets for selected performances, travel costs up to EUR 200 for non-residents, and nine nights of single-room accommodation including breakfast.

Requirements

Targeted at artists and cultural workers at the start of their careers or advanced students from Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Slovakia, or Hungary. Applicants must live or work within a 300km radius of Vienna. English is the working language.
