About the Open Call

The Well Hung Painting Prize is open to UK-based painters. Shortlisted artists will have their work exhibited at the Well Hung Gallery. The winner will receive a fully-funded solo exhibition in 2027 and a £500 Great Art materials voucher. Two runner-ups will receive a £200 Great Art materials bundle and a £200 voucher for Well Hung Framing. Applicants must submit by posting their painting on Instagram with the tag @wellhunguk and the hashtag #WHpaintingprize.

What is Offered

Exhibition, solo exhibition commission for winner, and monetary vouchers for materials and framing.

Requirements

Artists must be based in the UK. Applicants cannot have exhibited with Well Hung previously. Only paintings are accepted. Works must be ready to hang, maximum size 80x80 cm including frame, currently available, and available for sale during the exhibition period (July 9 – August 23, 2026).
