Visitor Center Artist Camp
Visitor Center Artist Camp is an annual residency hosting an immersive workshop in wild-clay pottery and space for independent art mediums. The program takes place in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, nestled between rural townships and the Ottawa National Forest. For two weeks, twelve participants live cooperatively and explore materials and the environment through art. Participants can choose between the Wild Clay Workshop, which involves harvesting and processing local clay and firing on-site, or Independent Projects, which supports land art, installations, photography, music, and more.
Two-week residency (July 25 - August 8, 2026), wild clay workshop, kiln access (pit/low-fire wood, electric, and gas), and a cooperative wilderness living environment.
Adults of all creative backgrounds, experience levels, and fields of practice. Must be comfortable with camping and cooperative living in a wilderness setting.
