“Under the Surface: Where Contrast, Texture & Friction Meet” invites artists to explore what lies beneath – materially, emotionally, or socially. The exhibition centers on contrast, texture, and friction as both physical and conceptual forces: where surfaces meet resistance, where beauty collides with discomfort, and where unseen pressures shape form and meaning. Artists are encouraged to interpret the theme broadly, embracing both figurative and abstract approaches. Work must be hanging- or pedestal-ready upon arrival. Artwork may be no longer than 48” in its longest dimension and weigh no more than 50 pounds.
Inclusion in a gallery exhibition and potential art sales with a 30% commission taken by the gallery.
Open to all artists 18 years and older. All visual art media considered (drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, etc.). AI-generated images are not accepted. Work must not be older than 2022. Accepted works must be hanging- or pedestal-ready.
Submit JPEG images of up to three (3) artworks to roya@parsplace.org with the subject line 'OPEN CALL – Spring 2026'. Image captions must include: First name, Last name, Title, medium, dimensions, year, and price. Include a short artist statement (max 200 words) and links to your website or Instagram.
