Umpqua Valley Arts
Umpqua Valley Arts presents Malleable, an open call for soft sculpture art. Soft Sculpture refers to three-dimensional works made from flexible materials like cloth, foam, rubber, plastic, fiber, paper, wax, or sand. These works often challenge traditional notions of sculpture by emphasizing characteristics like drooping, sagging, draping, and metaphorical implications of impermanence. The exhibition is juried by UVA staff, the UVA Gallery Committee, and professional artists from the Pacific Northwest.
Selected artists will have their work exhibited at Umpqua Valley Arts galleries. Artwork may be offered for sale, with UVA taking a commission of 30% for members and 40% for non-members.
Eligible to established, mid-career, and emerging artists residing in Oregon, Washington, or Idaho. Artists may submit up to 3 pieces. Works must have been completed within the last three years and not previously shown at UVA. Pieces must be at least 50% nonrigid material, not exceed 60 inches on the longest side, and weigh less than 50 lbs. Specific hanging requirements apply, including the use of wire or D-Rings.
All entries must be submitted digitally via the CaFE system. Artists should upload JPEG files no smaller than 1920 pixels on the longest side, with a resolution of 72 ppi and a maximum file size of 5 MB. Applications including slides, links, or physical photographs will not be accepted.
