Ucross Foundation
Since its founding in 1981, Ucross has grown into a vital resource for artists of all backgrounds and disciplines from the United States and the world. The residency program provides uninterrupted time and space within a respectful, comfortable, and productive environment. Each year, approximately 115 individuals are awarded residencies ranging from two to six weeks. The foundation typically hosts four writers, four visual artists, and two composers at any one time. Residents receive individual studio space, living accommodations, and meals prepared by a professional chef. While there is no charge for the residency itself, artists are responsible for their own working materials and travel expenses to Sheridan, Wyoming.
Living accommodations, private studio space, all meals (Monday-Friday prepared by a chef), linens, weekly housekeeping, and high-speed internet.
Applicants must exhibit professional standing in their field. The program is open to visual artists, writers, composers, choreographers, interdisciplinary artists, performance artists, and collaborative teams. Residents must provide their own materials and cover travel costs.
Applications for the Fall 2026 session must be submitted through the Ucross online application portal by January 15 at 11:59 p.m. MT.
