Tim Murphy Art Gallery
The Tim Murphy Art Gallery, located within the Merriam Community Center, opened in 1996 with a mission to increase public awareness of the visual arts. The gallery features monthly exhibits by local and regional artists, all free to the public. Artists will have originals and prints for sale. Each year, artists are encouraged to submit an application to showcase their work. Applications are reviewed by a committee. Notification of acceptance or rejection will be sent via email the week after Labor Day. Accepted artists must sign a gallery agreement and are responsible for insuring their artwork. Exhibited works should be matted and framed (for 2D) or displayed on pedestals (for 3D). Artists are responsible for delivery and removal of their work.
Artists receive a monthly exhibition opportunity at the Tim Murphy Art Gallery, a free public opening reception provided by Merriam Parks and Recreation, and the ability to sell their original works and prints with 70% commission on sales. Invitation postcards for friends are also provided.
Artists must be able to display 16-25 works. Selected artists must not have exhibited in a monthly show in any medium within the past 2 years at the Tim Murphy Art Gallery. All exhibited 2D works must be matted and framed unless wrap around canvas technique is utilized. 90% of displayed artwork must be for sale. Artists are responsible for insurance of their artwork. Work must be delivered or shipped by the Sunday prior to opening and removed within one week of show conclusion. Artists must provide a complete listing of titles and sales price 7 days in advance.
Artists must submit their own application online by Wednesday, July 30, 2025. The application requires five high-resolution .jpg digital pictures representing the work intended for exhibit, with file names including the artist's last name and piece title. Applications are reviewed by a committee.
