About the Open Call

The Pumphouse Theatre invites Calgary-based emerging visual artists with less than 5 years of professional experience to submit work for the Quenten Doolittle Memorial Gallery. This exhibition supports the IGNITE! Festival for Emerging Artists. Work will be displayed from April 24 to June 27, 2026. Artists may opt-in to have their work adjudicated to become the official piece for IGNITE! 2026. The gallery provides accessible wall space with no commission taken on sales.

What is Offered

Wall display space for visual art, potential for honorarium if selected as the official IGNITE! 2026 art piece, and festival pass.

Requirements

Artists must reside in Calgary and be available for installation. Must identify as emerging (less than 5 years of experience). Artwork must be delivered ready to hang (wall-space only). No nudity permitted.

How to Apply

Email the completed Gallery Submission Form, artist biography (250 words max), a short description of art background, and up to 5 photos of artwork to the Programming Director at prod@pumphousetheatre.ca.
