The Nicholson Project
The program emphasizes artistic growth within a supportive and community-oriented environment. Residents are given private accommodation with an attached studio, access to staff mentorship and guest curators, and opportunities for professional exposure through documentation and promotion. The residency also encourages engagement with the wider arts community through studio visits, artist talks, and optional projects, while maintaining a balance between creative independence and public interaction.
Selected artists are expected to actively participate in the program by completing at least one public open studio and one artist talk, engaging in regular studio visits with staff and curators, and being present for the majority of the residency (around 75%). Additional optional activities may include community events or collaborative engagements. Applicants must submit their work through an online application (with a small fee) and are responsible for their own travel, while materials and equipment for their practice are largely self-provided.
