About the Open Call

The Indigo Arts Alliance Mentorship Residency Program serves as an arts incubator for visual artists, performance artists, and musicians. The program pairs a National or International artist traveling to Maine with a Local/Regional artist to cultivate conversation, collaboration, and exchange of industry knowledge and technical skills. Residents have 24-hour access to a 3,000 square foot community studio. The mission specifically focuses on serving Black and Brown artists, including those of African descent, Indigenous peoples, Latinx, and Asian communities.

What is Offered

Residents receive a stipend, private one-bedroom off-site housing (for visiting artists), travel expenses for national/international travel, 24-hour studio access, and 1:1 feedback and support.

Requirements

Applicants must be 21+ and a descendant of African nations, Indigenous peoples, Latinx, or Asian/Pacific Rim communities. Artists must have 2+ years of exhibition or studio experience, a sustained commitment to their practice, and cannot be enrolled in a full-time academic program. A COVID-19 vaccination is required.

How to Apply

National and International artists are selected via nomination; nominated artists submit materials through a Submittable portal. Local and Regional artists from the North Eastern region (ME, VT, NH, MA, CT, RI) can submit rolling applications via the website year-round.
