About the Open Call

The Impact Award for Native American Art is an annual $25,000 fellowship. The award aims to amplify the contributions of under-recognized Native American contemporary visual artists, including those who are enrolled members of state or federally recognized tribes, Alaska Native corporations, or of Native Hawaiian ancestry. Applicants must be 21 or older and not currently enrolled in an art-related degree program. The award is unrestricted and merit-based.

Requirements

Must be an enrolled member or citizen of a state or federally recognized American Indian tribe, an Alaska Native corporation, or of Native Hawaiian ancestry; must be an under-recognized visual artist 21 years or older; students are ineligible; documentation of eligibility may be requested.

How to Apply

Submit an application via the Harpo Foundation's online Submittable portal. Include an artist resume, artist statement (max 200 words), 10 work samples (jpg/mp4/mov/mp3), and answer specific supplemental questions regarding tribal affiliation and artistic journey.
