About the Open Call

Now in its third year, The Hatchery is a development program and festival for movement-based theater artists. The program supports individuals and groups whose process may not adhere to a traditional, script-based model. Selected projects receive a paid development period, rehearsal support with actors and a stage manager, and two public performances at The Judy (home of Northwest Children's Theatre and School).

What is Offered

Paid development period (April-July 2026), 25-32 paid rehearsal hours (August 16-30, 2026), actors, stage manager, and two public performances.

Requirements

The project must feature an innovative use of music/movement; limited to a cast of five actors; involves monthly production meetings; limited technical production (no scenic design, limited lighting, no costume design, $100 materials budget).
