The Aidan Threlfall Trust
The award provides funding (typically up to £2,000) to support either a travel-based research period or a defined artistic project. Travel scholarships are intended to offer inspiration and new material for artistic development, while project grants support the completion of specific bodies of work. The emphasis is on expanding an artist’s experience, research, and creative direction. Successful applicants are expected to reflect on their experience afterwards, often submitting a report and images of resulting work.
Annual award in the form of a travel scholarship or project grant.
Applicants must be early-career artists, typically graduates or final-year students in a BA or MA Fine Art program at a UK art institution. They must be under 30 years old and of British nationality. A portfolio of work (including drawings and other examples) is required, along with a proposal outlining either the travel plan or project idea, including intended outcomes and estimated costs. Shortlisted applicants may also need a recommendation from their head of department.
