About the Open Call

Organized by Villa Albertine and the Albertine Foundation, the Étant donnés program supports visual arts projects through two main tracks. The Creative Grants support American or French nonprofit institutions organizing exhibitions or new commissions featuring living artists from the other country. The Curatorial Fellowships provide $3,000 grants to US-based curators for research trips to France. The program encompasses a wide range of visual arts including painting, sculpture, photography, video, and performance, prioritizing projects that create new connections between institutions and artists in both countries.

What is Offered

Creative grants up to $30,000 for exhibitions and commissions; curatorial fellowships of $3,000 for research trips.

Requirements

For Creative Grants, institutions must be nonprofits; American institutions must feature French or France-based artists, and French institutions must feature US-based American artists. For Curatorial Fellowships, applicants must be US citizens or residents for at least 5 years, have 3 years of research experience, and have a clearly defined research project involving a French partner.
