About the Open Call

The Classical Roman Arts Foundation (CRAF) is proud to announce the Fourth Edition of the Ecco Echo Awards, dedicated to echoing, celebrating, and reverberating Classical Roman arts. Its objective is the recognition and appreciation of contemporary artists or researchers who work in the tradition of, are inspired by, or reflect on the Classical Roman arts, techniques, styles, and influences still amazing us today. Two main categories will be considered: (a) physical pieces such as paintings, drawings, engravings, sculptures, statues or constructs, and (b) digital works whether encapsulated in a USB, a program, NFT or other electronic means. The winning Work will be selected by the Foundation's Board of Directors based on technical, historical, and thematic compatibility criteria. All works must reverberate from, be inspired by, or refer to the Classical Roman arts, techniques, styles, and influences.

What is Offered

The first prize consists of 1,000.00 Euro and the second prize of 500 Euro for the acquisition of certain rights of one or more selected works. Winners are also invited to participate in the Award Exhibition and other publicity events.

Requirements

Participants must be over eighteen years of age. Participants must demonstrate a particular connection to or with Rome. The Work must be the participant's own work and must reverberate from, be inspired by, or refer to Classical Roman arts, techniques, styles, and influences. The Work needs not be finished at Application. Participants may apply for up to three works. They must provide proof of accuracy for submitted information and bear all responsibility and costs associated with the production, exhibition, and associated activities of their Work.

How to Apply

To participate, contenders must fill their application form online and send it, together with all visual material, by email to contact@classicalromanartsfoundation.org. Applications must be done in two steps: 1) filling out and submitting the form on the website; 2) sending an e-mail with the requested material (PDF and JPEG/TIF/MP4 formats preferred) to contact@classicalromanartsfoundation.org. No physical works are to be submitted with the Application. The application must include: Candidate's complete curriculum; Technical description of the work (material, size, file size, duration, previous exhibitions); Critical description of the work (concept, theme, references, and how it relates to the Award's objective); Explanation of how the Work is linked to a specific period, school, style; Photographs, still or moving, and representations of the Work (front, back, sides, top, bottom as necessary; links preferred).
