Textile Arts Center
Textile Arts Center's Artist in Residence (TAC AIR) combines studio access with a rigorous interdisciplinary curriculum and regular critical dialogue. The program provides an alternative to traditional higher education, focusing on technical development in weaving, knitting, dyeing, and screen printing, alongside textile history and professional development. The residency is divided into three phases: Play, Research & Concept, and Project Creation, concluding with a group exhibition produced and hosted by TAC.
24/7 access to personal studio space, access to specialized textile equipment (looms, dye lab, screen printing facilities), $1,100 worth of free classes, lifetime access to open studio, and a 30% discount on all TAC classes.
Eligible applicants must be 21+ years old, proficient in English, and working in or interested in developing work within textile and fiber media. International artists are welcome to apply but are responsible for all visa arrangements and associated fees. Residents are expected to commit 15-20 hours per week to their studio practice.
Applications must be submitted digitally through Slideroom. Required materials include a portfolio of 5-10 high-resolution images and written statements regarding the applicant's work, interests, and desire to participate in the program. BIPOC candidates may contact the organization to request an application fee waiver.
