About the Open Call
The Tallgrass Artist Residency offers a program inspired by prairie and place, aiming to foster connection and conversation across the Great Plains through engagement with the prairie ecosystem. Applications for the 2026 program are now open. The residency also features a Fall Gathering in Matfield Green on October 4. The 2025 program schedule lists artists such as Kory Reeder, Caroline Honas, Carrie Miller, rachel j. atakpa, Jason Reed, Justice Catron, Clay Gonzalez, Mark Cowardin, Erin Wiersma & Katie Kingery-Page, and Aimee Inglis, with residencies spanning from May to August. Jurors for the 2025 program included Marco Hernandez, Julia Fabris McBride, Cody Norton, Ksenya Gurshtein, and Michael Knutson for general art, and Mary Silwance and Traci Brimhall for writing. The residency maintains an active presence on Instagram and Facebook, and encourages interested individuals to join their email list for updates.
