Bushwick Gallery
Solo Statement: Doesn’t Play Well with Others is a one-night takeover program where the gallery is completely transformed by a single artist. This program is designed for artists whose vision is immersive and uncontainable within a group context. Selected artists receive full creative freedom, professional exhibition photography, and gallery-curated press and promotion. The program aims to be accessible to artists from all backgrounds and requires no prior gallery experience.
One-night gallery takeover, 5 days for installation and 5 days for de-installation, professional exhibition photography, curated press release, and event promotion.
Open to artists working in any medium including painting, sculpture, photography, performance, installation, or digital work. Artists are responsible for their own artwork, installation concept, setup, and breakdown within the allotted time, including any additional materials or technical needs.
Artists must complete the online application form on the gallery's website, providing personal information, an artist statement (150 words max), creative direction for the takeover (150 words max), artistic influences (100 words max), and an optional exhibition concept (100 words max), along with 3–5 images of recent work.
