Small Works

About the Open Call

Art Center Sarasota (ACS) invites artists to submit works for "Small Works," a juried exhibition celebrating intimate-scale art. Submissions are welcome in all media including painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, mixed media, digital arts, sculpture, and video. AI-generated art is not permitted. All artworks must be submitted online for jurying. Awards will be chosen by juror Samo Davis in person once works are installed. The exhibition runs from October 9 to November 15, 2025. This show is open to all artists, and selections are based solely on artistic merit with the exhibition theme in mind. ACS reserves the right to not display art containing hate speech, racist, violent, cruel, or pornographic images, or content that vilifies or demeans individuals or groups.

What is Offered

Artists have the opportunity to exhibit their work at Art Center Sarasota. Awards will be given to top artists: 1st place ($500), 2nd place ($300), 3rd place ($200), Merit (2 awards), and Honorable Mention (4 awards). Artists receive 60% of sales if an ACS member, and 50% if a non-member.

Requirements

The maximum size for 2D artwork is 15" x 15" after framing. The maximum size for 3D artwork is 15" x 15" x 15". AI-generated art is not allowed. All entries must be original work completed within the last three years and not previously shown in any ACS show. Copies and reproductions are not eligible, but editioned prints (photographs, lithographs, etc.) are accepted. Open editions are not accepted. Artwork must be finished, dry, and ready to hang or display. Two-dimensional art requires picture frame wire (no sawtooth hangers) or gallery-wrapped canvas with no staples showing. Three-dimensional art over 30lbs or requiring special hanging may require artist assistance and materials. All work on exhibit must be for sale (no POR or NFS).

How to Apply

All artworks must be submitted ONLINE for jurying through the Submittable platform. Submitted artwork images should be high quality (at least 1mb up to 5mb), cropped appropriately for 2D works, or placed against a solid background for 3D works. Image formats are jpg and png (max 3MB); video formats are MP4, MOV, AVI, MPG. Contact the exhibitions department for assistance with submissions.
