About the Open Call

Elevate your perspective in Venice, a city rich in culture and art history. The residency offers a serene and inspiring environment for artists, writers and researchers across various disciplines. It is located at the heart of the picturesque Jewish Ghetto, in a newly renovated, unique authentic Venetian spacious apartment on the 7th floor of one of Venice’s tallest buildings. It offers a breathtaking view of the rooftop across the historic city. This exclusive setting aims to inspire new ways of seeing and understanding, much like a solitary figure created from a vantage point high above the city. Enabling to discover Venice’s multi-layered facet while focusing entirely on their creative endeavours. While the studio apartment is a private workspace, we offer an optional studio and exhibition opportunity in our gallery. Conveniently located below the studio, facing the campo. The gallery is open to the public Sunday through Friday and is usually staffed during opening hours, meaning residents are welcome to work and be present but not required to be on-site at all times. While enjoying Venice’s vivid culture and art scene and networking, artists are free to design their residency individually. We are here to support them so the residency becomes a meaningful experience and contributes to their artistic development. Minimum stay: 2 weeks. Maximum stay: 3 months. This residency is open to artists, authors, and researchers across various disciplines. The studio is primarily designed as a creative and intellectual workspace. No specialized equipment (such as specific art tools, darkroom, kilns, etc.) is provided beyond standard household amenities. Residents will be accommodated in a large, newly renovated spacious private three room apartment on the 7th floor, offering unparalleled city views of Venice, including the historic Ghetto. The apartment is designed to be a comfortable and private living studio space. Your residency includes a studio within a spacious three room apartment ideal for focused creative and intellectual pursuits such as writing, research, conceptual development, or non-toxic studio practices. An optional extra studio space and exhibition opportunity is also available in our dedicated gallery space, conveniently located below the studio, facing the campo (details under “Fees and Support”). The gallery is usually staffed during opening hours, providing general assistance and supervision, meaning residents can be present during their exhibition but are not required to be on-site at all times.
