By partnering with industry experts and educational institutions, SYFF aims to continue inspiring and nurturing the next generation of cinematic visionaries in Singapore. The festival features diverse award categories, mentorship programmes, and expanded industry partnerships. Through collaborations, SYFF strives to spark engaging conversations and strengthen connections within the filmmaking community, becoming a cornerstone of the local film scene. SYFF will honor exceptional young filmmakers with prestigious awards and expand its scope to feature an array of film screenings, festival talks, and networking events, dedicated to celebrating talent and fostering a community of like-minded enthusiasts. SYFF aims to instill a deeper appreciation for local films and youth filmmakers, nurture aspiring talents, and showcase and provide recognition for the achievements of all young filmmakers.

Requirements

The Student Category is open to: Students 35 years old and below (born in 1990 and after) currently enrolled in full-time education in Singapore, or graduates 35 years old and below (born in 1990 and after) who produced their films while enrolled as a full-time student in Singapore between 1 May 2024 and 27 July 2025. Applicants must be Singaporean/PR or youth with a valid long-term pass. The Open Youth Category is open to: Any Singaporeans or PR 35 years old and below (born in 1990 and after) during the time of submission, or youths 35 years old and below (born in 1990 and after) residing in Singapore with a valid long-term pass. All submissions must be original works, produced between 01 Jan 2024 and 3 August 2025, and must not infringe upon copyrights or intellectual properties. Non-English submissions require English subtitles. Film format requirements: Container: QuickTime (.mov); Codec: H.264; Aspect Ratio: 16:9 (or letterbox/pillarbox); Resolution: 1920 x 1080 PROGRESSIVE; Frame Rate: 24 or 25 FPS only; Audio: Stereo Channels, AAC codec, 48kHz sample rate; Maximum Duration: 30 minutes including opening/closing credits.

How to Apply

All submissions must be submitted via the online submission forms for either the Student Category or the Open Youth Category. Any other forms of submission will not be accepted. Applicants must ensure they have read the FAQ and Terms and Conditions before submission. Submissions must be uploaded to a platform listed on the online submission form, and the URL and password (if any) must be provided and viewable until 31 December 2025.
