About the Open Call

Group Residency at SSW focuses on bringing together artists from a wide variety of disciplines to develop their practices within welcoming workshops and studios. The month-long program includes inductions to ceramics, metal fabrication, blacksmithing, and stonework, alongside social spaces such as saunas, artist sharings, film nights, and shared meals. The residency is experimental, collective, and supported by a skilled technical team, making it ideal for artists seeking material connection and open-ended experimentation.

What is Offered

Subsidised residency cost of £480 (subsidised by over £3000), including accommodation, access to facilities, technical expertise, and programme support.

Requirements

Open to artists at any stage of their practice and working in any discipline. No previous residency experience, formal training, or workshop familiarity is required. Selected artists are expected to engage in a communal and experimental environment. Artists pay £480 per four-week residency. This cost is substantially subsidised by SSW with the support of Creative Scotland’s Multi-Year Funding (MYF) programme to the value of over £3000 per artist.
