About the Open Call

The Susan Cooley Gilliom Artist in Residence & Teaching Program (SCG ART) brings established artists to Placer County to share their expertise. The resident will lead two workshops for adults, participate in student tours, maintain open studio hours, and deliver an artist talk. The program is managed by the Placer Community Foundation and hosted at Blue Line Arts. All forms of visual art making and mediums are considered.

What is Offered

$10,000 honorarium, $1,470 per diem, up to $800 for travel, $800 for car rental, $4,200 for housing, and $500 for supplies/shipping. A studio space is provided for the 3-week period.

Requirements

Open to established artists in the United States aged 18 or older. Applicants must not have previously held an SCG Residency at Blue Line Arts. Artists must be prepared to teach workshops, lead school tours, and maintain open studio hours.

How to Apply

Applications must be submitted online via CaFÉ. Requirements include a cover letter, workshop proposals for two adult classes, a curriculum vitae (max 2 pages), an artist statement, 5-10 images of completed works, a headshot, and a photo of the artist at work.
