Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts
The Salad Days Artist spends seven months at Watershed producing 500 plates or shallow bowls from terracotta clay for the following summer’s Salad Days event. The artist is also commissioned to create approximately thirty small functional or decorative pieces for donors. The residency offers a large dedicated studio space and the opportunity to connect with the public during the Salad Days celebration in July.
Housing in a private room, meals and/or a meal stipend, a large dedicated studio space, free materials and firings, and a $4,000 stipend.
Applicants must be United States citizens, comfortable working independently in a clay studio, and have experience with production-style functional work in series.
Applicants must submit the online application form including questions about experience and interest, a proposed plate design with a written description and visual prototype, and images of past work.
