About the Open Call

The artist-in-residence program "SAIKONEON" was established in April 2019 with the aim of providing a space for research, creation, and collaboration for creators across various genres, without the constraints of traditional boundaries. Despite being just under two hours from Tokyo, SAIKONEON is situated on the shores of Lake Saiko in Yamanashi, surrounded by the majestic natural environment of Mount Fuji. Since its establishment, artists and designers from various countries have participated in our residency program, spanning diverse media such as painting, photography, visual arts, dance performances, and installations. Our residency program conducts open calls throughout the year. We select artists and creators based on the excitement their works and expressions evoke in the sensitivities of our residency staff, seeking individuals whose creations not only captivate us but also make them intriguing personalities with a unique character. Through their activities at the residence, we aspire to share the creations with the world. Additionally, we envision our residence becoming a space that stimulates the creative process among artists, fostering meaningful encounters. We welcome creators and artists who wish to engage in activities with us, transcending local and national boundaries. Being part of our residency promises the opportunity for something interesting to happen. We strive to create a place where unique and fascinating occurrences unfold.
