City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs
Community Regenerative Art will support artistic and cultural projects that provide care and regeneration for communities and ecological urban habitats. Projects commissioned may take the form of what we historically have called eco-art, land-art, or environmental art; they may be presented in a wide variety of media; and they may address pressing environmental issues such as climate change, environmental sustainability and justice. The roster will remain active for three years, and pre-qualified artists will be eligible to develop site-specific community regenerative art project proposals.
Project budgets range between $25,000 and $250,000. Shortlisted finalists asked to develop site-specific proposals will receive a proposal honorarium.
Applicants must reside in the County of Los Angeles. Must demonstrate connections to local indigenous peoples, critical thinking around climate change and environmental stewardship, and the ability to build relationships between local communities and urban ecosystems. Employees of the City of Los Angeles are ineligible.
All applications must be submitted online via SlideRoom at https://culturela.slideroom.com/#/Login. A complete submission must include contact information, a statement of interest (max 2 pages), a resume or three letters of support, and up to twelve images of completed artistic/cultural projects.
