The Place
Resolution is The Place’s annual festival for new choreography and performance works. The 2026 festival will take place from Friday 9 January – Wednesday 25 February 2026. We are looking for short, live works (max 25 minutes) to be performed in our black box theatre space. In 2026, artists will have the choice to present their work either in the traditional end-on theatre configuration, or as an ‘in-the-round' performance in our 288 seated auditorium. All pieces in Resolution will be shared as part of a triple bill and any UK based artists working in live performance can apply. We welcome a range of performance styles, including dance, dance theatre, physical theatre, hip hop, South Asian dance, circus, live art, performance art, and more. The most important thing is the quality of the idea. We are most excited by work that centers movement and where the body is one of the key modes of artistic exploration and expression. There are no upfront costs to the festival, and applications are free. Artists learn from industry professionals through supportive and practical workshops. Resolution exists to support and celebrate new ideas. It’s a well established festival and has been running for over 30 years! We invite artists to propose exciting ideas for new work that they really believe in and use the festival as a platform to create that work. As well as presenting work to an audience of peers, professionals and critics, the Resolution artists take part in a series of supportive and practical artist development workshops. The next festival will take place at The Place between Friday 9 January – Wednesday 25 February 2026. The Place is London’s creative powerhouse for dance development. We power imagination through dance, champion new ideas, embrace risks and create optimal conditions for dance artists and enthusiasts to realise their full potential. Financially, the festival works as follows: The theatre takes a first call of £1605 of the box office income for each night of Resolution. Any box office income which exceeds this amount is divided equally between the 3 companies who share the night. If you don’t sell enough tickets to cover this £1605, you must pay the theatre the remaining balance which is also divided equally between the 3 companies who share the night. There are no upfront costs and no further charges. Key Dates: Applications for Resolution 2026 close on Friday 22 August 2025 at 10am. We will be holding a Resolution Q&A online on Tuesday 29 July at 6pm – 7pm.
