The Clay Studio
The Resident Artist Program offers emerging ceramic talent the opportunity to further develop their work, establish professional contacts, and work within a community of makers. The program is designed for artists who are early in their careers. Benefits include a personal studio space (approx. 185-195 sq. ft.), kiln use, a stocked glaze area, and a solo exhibition after 24 months. Residents are integrated into the community through teaching opportunities and public programs.
Waived studio rent (valued at $200/month), $250 monthly stipend for three years, personal studio space, kiln access, paid teaching opportunities, solo exhibition, and professional staff support.
Applicants must be emerging ceramic talent. International artists are welcome (must handle own visa). Residents must live within the greater Philadelphia area, actively use the studio as their primary workspace, teach in the Community Studio (4 Saturdays per year), attend mandatory monthly meetings, and volunteer for community events.
