Joan Mitchell Foundation
Residencies at the Joan Mitchell Center provide artists with time and space for artistic contemplation and experimentation. Artists receive a private studio space for 10 weeks in Spring or Fall 2027, or 6 weeks in Summer 2027, along with weekday meals, a $150 weekly stipend, and engagement with arts professionals. Eligibility is restricted to New Orleans residents/natives or past recipients of specific Foundation programs.

Artists must be 21+, not enrolled in a degree-granting art program, identify as a visual artist, demonstrate a serious commitment to practice, and be at a pivotal career point. Applicants must be either New Orleans residents for 5+ years/natives OR previous Joan Mitchell Foundation grant/support program recipients.
Applications must be submitted through the Submittable platform linked on the Foundation's website, including ten work samples, project benefit explanation, biography, resume, and headshot.
