About the Open Call

This artistic and pedagogical residency will take place in Saverne at the Musée de Saverne, located within the Château des Rohan, from February 20 to April 30, 2026. Following previous themes like 'Espaces en transition', 'Bestiaire', and 'En perspective' for exhibitions, and 'Territoire', 'déambulation/ errance', and 'Lointains jardins' for past residencies, the theme for the 2026 residency is: 'Carte blanche au musée! Dialogue art contemporain et patrimoine'. The objective of this residency is to allow the selected artist to immerse themselves in the Saverne Museum and its collections. Interested in the resonances that can be established between the museum, a specific section, or a particular work and their own practice, the artist will have 'carte blanche' to apply their perspective and create one or more works based on the affinities they wish to establish, which will be relevant to the context. The Musée de Saverne features different axes of display, collection, and research, including the Louise Weiss section, the archaeological collection, and the art and history fund. The artist will also be required to develop pedagogical work related to their research with several classes in Saverne. This residency is a partnership between the City of Saverne, the schools of Saverne, FRAC Alsace, and Gip-Acmisa. FRAC Alsace is funded by the Ministry of Culture – DRAC Grand Est and the Grand Est Region, and supported by the Académie de Strasbourg and the City of Sélestat.

What is Offered

The residency offers an immersive experience within the Musée de Saverne and its collections, providing a 'carte blanche' opportunity to create new artworks in dialogue with heritage, and the chance to develop and lead pedagogical workshops with local school classes.

Requirements

The artist must be interested in establishing resonances between their practice and the museum, its sections, or specific works. The artist is required to develop a pedagogical project related to their research with several classes in Saverne.
