Ragdale
Ragdale is a non-profit artists’ community located on architect Howard Van Doren Shaw’s country estate. It hosts nearly 200 artists at all stages of their careers for 18-day residencies. The program provides dedicated work time, a supportive environment, family-style dinners, and artist exchanges. For the 2027 program, artists determine their own residency fee based on a sliding scale. A limited number of fellowships are available that waive the residency fee and provide a stipend of at least $1000.
18-day residency session, private studio and sleeping quarters, meals, and potential fellowship stipends of at least $1000 with waived fees.
Applicants should be working at the professional level in their fields. Specific work sample requirements apply: 20 pages for writing, 8 images for visual work, or 10 minutes for time-based work. Artists collaborating on a project must submit individual applications.
All applicants must submit materials through the Submittable application portal. A completed application includes an artist statement, a work plan, a CV or resume, a works list, and media-specific work samples. Fellowship applicants must also include an eligibility statement.
