About the Open Call

Moving Parts offers three distinct but related opportunities as part of its 'Training' program: a Professional Certified Performance Training, a Facilitator Course, and a Professional Artistic Residency. The Professional Certified Performance Training (3rd December 2025 - 28th March 2026) is a rigorous, multi-disciplinary, 16-week intensive in-studio training at the Moving Parts Shala in the stunning and tranquil jungle of North Goa, India. It combines physical theatre, voice, contemporary dance, therapeutic movement, choreography, and devising to equip performers with a rounded set of skills, working towards performance and personal project creation. It includes mentored individual projects, certification, and public showcasing, with a collaborative artistic link between India, UK, and EU institutions. The program is structured into four parts: Foundational ensemble and devising practice (Dec 3-23), Epic and tragic spaces (Jan 5-31), Comic territories and acrobatics (Feb 12-Mar 14), and Mentored creative projects with a finale performance (Mar 16-28). A Workshop & Performance Festival with renowned theatre practitioners and contemporary dance artists is also part of the program (1st - 10th February 2026), with free participation for Body and Performance Participants. The Facilitator Training is tailor-made for performers who have completed training and wish to develop skills in guiding others. It focuses on sharing teaching methodology, pedagogical principles, and practical facilitation of sessions, covering topics such as developing an available, neutral body, movement analysis, voice, building ensemble, and teaching devising & choreography. Personalized mentorship and feedback are key components. Only 3 places are available for this opportunity. The Professional Artistic Residency provides one-month studio space and mentorship for physical performer-creators to experiment and develop their ideas. This professional development opportunity is for those with performance skill and strong creative impulses, offering a supportive, collaborative space with faculty members, studio time, feedback, and invited audiences. Optional wrap-around offerings such as sauna, myofascial release, massage therapy, personal therapy, and sharing circles are available. All devised work will be showcased for an invited audience and filmed, with feedback facilitated by the audience and students of The Body and Performance course. Both the training and residency emphasize a 'whole person' approach and a playful yet professional environment. Scholarships are available for these programs.

What is Offered
