Musa fotografia
The Musa National Prize for female photographers, after a notable growth in popularity and success, reaches its seventh edition in 2025. Dedicated to the creation of photographic portfolios, the Musa Prize is open to all female photographers, without distinction between amateurs and professionals. The submitted works will be evaluated by a jury of experts from the Italian photographic scene, whose judgment will be final. The prize focuses on Italian female photography and welcomes participants from all fields and photographic genres, without restrictions on the project to be submitted. Each photographer can submit up to three projects. The theme is free but the project's category must be considered: 1) Reportage, Street photography, Nature, Travel, Events, Architecture; 2) Personal project, Conceptual photography, Research; 3) Portrait, Fashion, Performing arts photography. Each work can be presented in black and white or color or with mixed techniques and different media. The work must be formally, conceptually, and aesthetically coherent. Any type of post-production is allowed (if the jury judges the work to be excessively post-produced or not truthful, in the case of photojournalistic reportage, it may decide to withdraw the prize after reviewing the raw files). The Musa Prize accepts AI-generated photos provided that the participant declares that the production was done through AI creation means. If the participant does not declare this creation characteristic, they will be automatically eliminated from the selections. Participants can submit a minimum of 8 to a maximum of 25 images per project. If the project includes a video (a video that is part of the concept of a potential exhibition, not an audiovisual with a list of project images and music), the link to the video (previously published online) must be included in the project's PDF presentation.
The prize offers several benefits including: printing of the exhibition (for the first category winner), exhibition at major Italian photography festivals (Grenze Arsenali Fotografici, Colornophotolife, Festival della Fotografia Etica di Lodi, Festival della Fotografia Italiana), online portfolio review with Alessia Locatelli (artistic director of the Mantova Female Photography Biennale), online meeting with EMUSE publishing house director, projection at the Mantova Female Photography Biennale 2026, possibility of publication on Fotocult online magazine, Fuji Instax camera, participation in the online course 'Strategies for Growing Authors' by Musa fotografia, and a video-interview by Studio CAOS/NOCSensei.
Open to all female photographers (amateurs and professionals). Projects must be formally, conceptually, and aesthetically coherent. AI-generated photos are accepted if declared. A minimum of 8 and a maximum of 25 images per project are required. Submissions must be a single PDF file per project, not exceeding 15MB, containing images in narrative order, project presentation (title, year), video link (if applicable), biography, website, social media, and email. No watermarks or signatures on photos. Projects not meeting these specifications will not be considered. The participant must be the author and rights holder of the images.
Prepare a single PDF file for each project (named with the participant's first and last name, e.g., saramunari.pdf). Insert images in correct narrative order. The PDF must not exceed 15 MB. In the same PDF file, before the images, include a presentation of the work, its title, and year of execution, and if a video is present, the link for reproduction. After the images, include the author's biography and website (if present), Instagram, Facebook, and email contact. Sign up for the Musa Prize using the participation form and make the payment immediately. Send a joint email to info@musafotografia.it with the project PDF and proof of payment (bank transfer receipt or PayPal transaction screenshot). Submissions where registration, payment, and email are sent separately will not be accepted. The file must be in Italian. Once the material is sent, no modifications can be made. Musa reserves the right to use the awarded images for exhibition promotion and publicity, crediting the photographer, ONLY AND EXCLUSIVELY for news related to the prize. Images will not be ceded to anyone (unless agreed with the author).
