About the Open Call

For Portals: New Perspectives, we invite photographs that explore openings, thresholds, and points of transition. Windows, doorways, mirrors, gates, archways, reflections, and frames within frames may serve as literal portals, while shifts in light, shadow, or perspective can transform familiar spaces into something unexpected. We also welcome more interpretive approaches. A portal might represent change, movement, memory, or emotional transition.

What is Offered

Selected works will be exhibited in the Middlebury gallery and/or an online gallery, reproduced in an exhibition catalog, remain permanently on the website, and be promoted on social media.

Requirements

Prints are due by May 22, 2026, for those selected for the physical exhibition.
