About the Open Call

For Portals: New Perspectives, we invite photographs that explore openings, thresholds, and points of transition. Windows, doorways, mirrors, gates, archways, reflections, and frames within frames may serve as literal portals, while shifts in light, shadow, or perspective can transform familiar spaces into something unexpected. We also welcome more interpretive approaches. A portal might represent change, movement, memory, or emotional transition. Whether urban or rural, interior or exterior, documentary or conceptual, show us how photography opens new ways of seeing.

What is Offered

Selection for a physical exhibition in the Middlebury gallery (35 images) or the Online Gallery (40 images). All selected images are included in an exhibition catalog and receive social media promotion.

Requirements

Photographs must relate to the theme 'Portals'. Selected artists must provide prints by May 22, 2026 for the physical gallery exhibition.

How to Apply

Submit images online via the PhotoPlace Gallery submission portal at https://submit.photoplacegallery.com/landing/default. Submissions require $39 for the first 5 images and $6 for each additional image.
