About the Open Call

Pianos About Town is a collaborative project of the Bohemian Foundation, the City of Fort Collins and the Fort Collins Downtown Development Authority. The project seeks 10 artists to paint murals on standard sized, upright pianos. Painting occurs live in Old Town Square, allowing the community to watch the process unfold. Artists have 20 days to complete their mural and are provided with a workspace and a primed piano. Once completed, these playable pianos are displayed throughout the town.

What is Offered

Artists/artist teams receive a $1,000 stipend, a 10' x 10' work area with a tent and tarp, and one primed piano.

Requirements

Applicants must be over the age of 18 and reside in Colorado. Designs must be picture-based, not word-based, and must not include logos, copyrighted imagery, advertisements, or political/religious themes. Work must be completed using high-quality acrylic-based products.

How to Apply

Applications must be submitted through the CAFE (Call for Entry) website. Artists must provide a complete design using the provided templates (front, top, sides, and back) and submit three examples of previous work.
