Open Call: Westway LAB 2026

About the Open Call

Applications are now open for artists and music projects interested in participating in the artistic residencies and/or city showcases of the 2026 edition of Westway LAB, which will take place from April 8 to 11 in Guimarães, heralding the arrival of Spring. The artistic residencies will take place between March 31 and April 7 at the Candoso Creation Centre. In a collaborative creative environment, groups of two to four artists will come together — with the requirement that at least one participant must be of Portuguese nationality. During this period, participants will develop original compositions, which will be performed live as part of the festival’s program. The city showcases consist of free-entry concerts held on the afternoon of Saturday, April 11, in various venues across the historic center of Guimarães, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Requirements

Open to artists and music projects. Participants in artistic residencies must form groups of two to four artists, with at least one participant being of Portuguese nationality. Participants must develop original compositions to be performed live.
