Tiny Spaces Deep Connections
The call for artists for the second year of residencies is now open. We are looking for artists and creatives (resident in EU or Creative Europe countries) who focus on process-led and site-specific creation. There are no restrictions to specific media; all artforms will be considered, including visual arts, text, mixed media, sound, audiovisual, digital, actors, dancers, performers, musicians, writers, makers, creative thinkers, and designers. The TISP residencies are unique as the travel to the residency space is integrated into the artistic process, requiring artists to travel slowly without aeroplanes. The journey is curated to include visits to art spaces within the Trans Europe Halles network. Each TISP studio is a recycled/repurposed space, encouraging sustainable practices. Project partners will provide mentorship and opportunities to connect with local communities and other TISP artists. Artwork produced will be archived on the TISP website, represented on a digital platform, and curated for exhibition during the project symposium in Oulu in August 2026. Residencies are scheduled from May to August 2026 across Greece (Communitism, Athens), Germany (INWOLE, Potsdam), and Finland (TaikaBox, Oulu), following online mentoring in March & April 2026. Duos or small collectives are eligible, though financial resources allow for a maximum of one representative to receive a travel budget and fee. Applicants must commit to slow travel. An application fee is not mentioned. English translation is necessary for non-English artworks. Excessive use of ChatGPT is not encouraged. Selection results will be announced by February 25th, 2026.
The fee is 3000 euros gross for the one-month residency, including travel time, plus travel expenses. Accommodation and daily costs will be provided. The program includes online mentoring exchanges and route-making, opportunities to connect with local communities and other TISP artists, and archiving of artwork on the project website and a digital platform. Selected works will be curated for exhibition during a symposium in Oulu in August 2026.
Artists and creatives resident in EU or Creative Europe countries are eligible. Applicants must focus on process-led and site-specific creation, and commit to using slow travel (no aeroplanes). Applicants must submit a single A4 PDF document (2 or 3 pages) showcasing their practice and motivation via an online form. Availability on the specified residency dates is required, with a minimum stay of 14 days at the host location. If applying as a duo/small collective, a maximum of 1 representative can be afforded travel budget and fee. A residence permit or proof of residence in an EU/Ukraine/Creative Europe country is necessary. English translations are required for non-English artworks.
Choose one of the TiSp residencies to apply for. Create a single A4 PDF document (2 or 3 pages long, Max file size 20Mb). Page 1 should provide an overview of your artistic practice, motivation for the chosen residency, and initial ideas (MAX 600 WORDS). The subsequent page(s) should showcase 3 recent projects, including links/videos with passwords if necessary, and suggest focus sections for long audio/video files (max 5 minutes). Application documents not fitting this format or longer than 3 pages will not be processed. Fill out the online form and upload your PDF.
