About the Open Call

Science Gallery Melbourne is seeking diverse, interdisciplinary projects for an exhibition titled SENSUAL, focusing on themes beyond sight such as touch, taste, smell, embodiment, and sensory perception. Selected projects will be featured in an exhibition running from mid-2027 to mid-2028. Proposals can be new, in-development, or existing works. Projects should be suitable for a non-traditional gallery environment with high ceilings and natural light, and engaging for an audience aged 15-30.

What is Offered

Selected projects are generally funded for up to $8000 AUD to cover all project-related costs including fees, materials, and freight.

Requirements

Applicants must be able to operate within a shared-space, non-traditional gallery environment. Budget requests must be realistic within the $8000 AUD limit. Projects should be robust enough to handle high foot traffic over a 10-month exhibition period. Safety of the audience is a primary concern.
