We are looking for up to 10 artists to contribute an artwork to a group exhibition at Tyntesfield, one of Britain’s finest Gothic Revival houses. The working title of the exhibition is ‘Reviving Gothic: contemporary artists at Tyntesfield’. The exhibition will revive, reinterpret and explore the full gothic spectrum. From its medieval beginnings, romantic renewal, 19th century revival and modern re-invention, gothic has long offered people a way to express who they are, and to navigate the ideas, emotions and challenges of their time. Brought together at Tyntesfield, the selected artworks will encourage audiences to see the house in a new way, as a place where the gothic spirit continues to inspire and evolve. By platforming diverse artistic voices and responses, the exhibition will demonstrate that while Gothic emerged from specific historical contexts, it has grown into a creative space that is open to everyone. Artists are invited to submit proposals for artworks under two funding categories: • £3,000 to £5,000: approx. 3 commissions available • £0 to £3,000: approx. 6 commissions available. The selected works will be installed at Tyntesfield in the Drawing Room. The exhibition will launch on 2 May 2026 and be on display for visitors to enjoy until 31 July 2026. The National Trust has the motto ‘For everyone, for ever’ at its heart. We’re working hard to create an inclusive culture, where everyone feels they belong. It’s important that our people reflect and represent the diversity of the communities and audiences we serve. Therefore, we strongly encourage applications from artists of all backgrounds.
Commissions available: £3,000 to £5,000 (approx. 3) and £0 to £3,000 (approx. 6).
