About the Open Call

The ZKM | Hertzlab invites applications for three 3-month residencies (October 1, 2026 – December 18, 2026, plus a final rehearsal week in January 2027) for artists working in digital theater and hybrid performative forms using technology. The residency includes a €4,000 scholarship, a €1,000 travel subsidy, up to €2,500 for material costs, accommodation, and access to ZKM studio facilities. The program culminates in a public showcase at the Kubus venue on January 15, 2027.

Requirements

Portfolio of relevant digital or performative works from the last 5 years; Project concept (max 2 pages) including approach, schedule, and cost plan; Valid health insurance for Germany.
