Gwangju Media Art Platform (G.MAP)
G.MAP (Gwangju Media Art Platform) is the central hub of Gwangju, a UNESCO City of Media Arts, dedicated to fostering a dynamic ecosystem for digital art and technology convergence. Through collaborations between artists and experts, G.MAP is shaping Gwangju’s identity as a city of digital creativity, hosting exhibitions, education programs, research initiatives, and international partnerships. G.MAP Project Lab Global Residency 2025 invites international artists to Gwangju to pursue convergence projects utilizing digital art and emerging technologies. The selected artist will be supported throughout their creative process—from conception to production—culminating in a public showcase in December 2025. The residency culminates in a festival-style showcase, presenting residency outcomes and engaging the public through exhibitions, artist talks, networking programs, and public engagement programs. Events will be held at G.MAP Exhibition Center, Creative Belt, and ACC venues.
Key features include expert mentoring; production support grants; workshops, seminars, and networking opportunities; and access to G.MAP’s Project Lab facilities. Support provided: 25,000,000 KRW for production support and 3,000,000 KRW artist fee (conditioned on at least 24 sessions in the Project Lab); visa issuance assistance; one round-trip international airfare; one round-trip domestic transportation; accommodation at UTOP Boutique Hotel & Residence; 12 sessions (36 hours) of one-on-one mentoring.
Eligibility: Open to international artists practicing at the intersection of art and technology. Applicants must demonstrate excellence and potential through their portfolio and project proposal. Program requirements: regular use of Project Lab (1–2 times per week); mandatory participation in mentoring sessions; engagement in workshops, seminars, and networking events; final presentation at the residency showcase in December 2025.
