About the Open Call

The FuoriFormato 2025 festival invites applications for its contemporary dance and videodance sections. The Dance section, curated by Teatro Akropolis and RETE Danzacontempoligure, seeks contemporary dance shows and performances to be presented in Genoa at Cortile di Palazzo Ducale on July 1 and 4, 2025, and at Villa Durazzo Bombrini (external and internal spaces) on July 2 and 3, 2025. The Videodance section, 'Stories We Dance,' curated by Associazione culturale Augenblick, is a contest focusing on the interconnections between dance, dramaturgy, and audiovisual languages, promoting works interested in storytelling, experimentation, and new technologies. Submissions for videodance are accepted via FilmFreeway across three categories: 'International Videodance,' 'International Videodance Under 35' (for directors under 35), and 'Laboratorio Italia' (for works produced in Italy, with at least 30% by directors under 35). Finalist films will be presented to an expert Jury, which will award prizes of €500 for the best Stories We Dance film, €300 for the best Stories We Dance Under 35 film, and €250 for the best Laboratorio Italia film. The audience will also vote for an Audience Award. Deadlines: May 5, 2025, for the Dance section and May 24, 2025, for the Videodance section.

What is Offered

Opportunity to present contemporary dance performances and videodance films at the FuoriFormato Festival 2025 in Genoa. The videodance section offers prize money (€500, €300, €250) for winning films, as well as special mentions and an Audience Award.

Requirements

Artists are invited to submit contemporary dance shows and performances that can coherently inhabit the proposed spaces. For videodance, works should explore movement-based storytelling, experimentation, and new technologies, without genre or format constraints. There are specific categories for international works, works by directors under 35, and works produced or co-produced in Italy.
