About the Open Call

The Museo Reina Sofía, Doclisboa and FIDMarseille present the fourth edition of this annual residency programme aimed at filmmakers and artists working in the field of essay film, experimental cinema, and all forms that make up contemporary non-fiction cinema. The Joaquim Jordà Residency Programme aims to support the conception, development and production of non-fiction film projects, and to help finance their execution and participation in the international dialogue around this discipline. This programme pays tribute to Joaquim Jordà (1935–2006), a filmmaker whose original and emblematic body of work in the field of non-fiction spanned, among others, the three countries of the institutions that host this residency. The residency is structured into three phases, encompassing research and development, production, and launch of the project, with activities taking place in Madrid, Marseille and Lisbon. The selected filmmakers will be invited to take part in FIDLab and Doclisboa. FIDLab is an international co-production platform held during FIDMarseille at the beginning of July, where projects are presented to potential funders and distributors. Doclisboa will provide the selected residents with relevant contacts among the international guests attending the festival, held from October 16 to 26 in Lisbon, allowing them to connect with a global network of filmmakers, artists, and producers.

What is Offered

Support for conception, development, and production of non-fiction film projects, financial assistance, participation in FIDLab and Doclisboa, and networking with international guests.
