VARES Valga Architecture Residency
About the Open Call
VARES invites spatial practitioners to explore world-building through practice, idealism, and hands-on material work. The residency focuses on caring for existing structures, material foraging, and rethinking the urban space of Valga. Participants are encouraged to develop projects across scales, from speculative utopias to site-specific interventions, concluding with a public sharing event in June 2026.
What is Offered
Project stipend of €30 per day (€3000 total for Ukrainian residents), travel support based on distance, and a production budget. Shared accommodation and a basic equipped workshop are provided.
Requirements
Open to architects, builders, students, writers, geographers, or anyone in a spatial field. Requires willingness to be present in Valga and participate in a public sharing event (June 27-28, 2026). Applications accepted from individuals or groups of 1-2 people.
