Paleohori eco-art space
Symbiotic Danscapes is a 1-month hybrid program—part research residency, part workshop—inviting three guest artists to openly share their choreographic, performative, and movement-based research with a dedicated group of participants. For 4 weeks, in the sloping forest of Paleohori, the three facilitators will bring forward questions emerging from their personal practice, to be explored collectively through movement, dialogue, and shared experience. Participants select one facilitator to primarily work with, while also having access to selected sessions of the other two. The three practices intersect throughout the month, creating a dynamic and interwoven environment for artistic inquiry. The program centers around questions such as: What if choreography served the dancing body's complexities rather than shaping it? What if audience participation were not only presence or engagement but a political gesture? What if dance were not something to be consumed, but an act of being, becoming, and encountering? This residency invests in time, relationality, and choreographic research as a collective act. We are seeking an artist who has: an ongoing artistic/research practice in dance, performance, somatics, or movement; experience in participatory facilitation, participatory choreographic environments; a genuine curiosity for co-inquiry, relational work, collective exploration, and somatic approaches; and interest in spectatorship as a relational and embodied encounter. The chosen artist will join two other facilitators, contributing by facilitating 38 hours of research + workshop sessions (max. 3 hours/day, Monday–Friday), participating in 6 hours of Critical Circles, bringing their own research questions, participating in heart circles, shared meals, and group processes, attending two online preparatory meetings, and being present for the full duration of the program (June 22 – July 19, 2026). Travel must be booked by February 2026. Weekly rhythm includes 6 hours of facilitation in Week 1 for introductions, and 10-11 hours/week in Weeks 2–4. Weekends are free, allowing for rest, personal research, or attending colleagues’ sessions.
A fee of 1100€ (gross) upon invoice, per diems of 180€ for weekends, bell tent accommodation with a bed, three vegetarian meals per day (plus breakfast on weekends), travel support up to 100€ for artists based in Greece and up to 250€ for artists based abroad, coordinated shared transport from Athens to Lefkada, a dedicated community to support research, and space & time for personal and collective exploration.
An ongoing artistic/research practice in dance, performance, somatics, or movement, experience in participatory facilitation and choreographic environments, a genuine curiosity for co-inquiry, relational work, collective exploration, and somatic approaches, and an interest in spectatorship as a relational and embodied encounter. Applicants must be available and present for the full residency dates (June 22 – July 19, 2026) and book travel by February 2026.
