Spike Island
Spike Island and Hauser & Wirth Somerset are inviting applications for an Engagement Fellowship for independent curators, art educators, and creative practitioners focused on social practice. The successful applicant will develop and deliver an inclusive programme of events and activities, specifically working with community groups, families, and young people. The 2026–27 fellowship focuses on the relationship between urban and rural communities, surrounding landscapes, and local environments.
The fellow receives a £10,000 fee, a £6,500 programme budget, mentorship from Spike Island and Hauser & Wirth Somerset teams, desk space at Spike Island, access to the Residency Studio, and an annual Spike Island Associates membership.
Independent curators, art educators, or creative practitioners based in the South West of England with experience in outreach and social practice. Applicants must not be currently undertaking an undergraduate course and must pass a basic DBS check.
Applicants must submit an online concept proposal (up to 750 words), a CV (maximum two pages), and 8–15 images or up to 3 video files of recent work via the website's application form. Applications are also accepted in alternative formats like video or audio files.
